WELBECK CAR PARK

Project type
Redevelopment
Date
June 2018
Location
London, UK

Year 1, Term 3 at the Architectural Association. Welbeck Street car park was an architecturally notable car park built in the Brutalist style that was found in Marylebone, just north of Oxford Street, in the City of Westminster, London. The building was set to be demolished in the year 2019. This particular brief required us to collaborate in groups and propose a design for a multi-disciplinary public house for the plot that would be empty after the demolishment is complete. In association with A.Shinina, K.Kolesnikova and M.Omrobelli, I underwent a process of ideation, development, research and execution. We put forward a proposal titled 'HoXs' i.e the house of exercise and sports. We designed a public house that consisted of retail and eating spaces but it also featured indoor exercise tracks, spaces for Yoga, a gym and a pool. To showcase our idea, we drafted multiple architectural drawings and created physical models.
